It is a subtle but very important statement. You may miss it at first…look again. This sign is now standing outside of our new building. It is a sign that indicates where we gather for worship. It is actually very simple, isn’t it? It is very clear – you can see when we gather, website address, and phone number.
This is what we are saying and are not saying by using this sign:
- This is where we gather for worship
- This is what time we gather for worship
- This building is not the church.
Please don’t miss this. The building is not the church. It is just a place in which we gather for worship. Is it significant – yes. Is it important – yes. Is it the church – no.
It is interesting when you read Acts 14.27 – When Paul and Barnabas returned to Antioch, they gathered the church together. Are we to infer that they gathered bricks, plywood, mortar, and drywall? No, we should realize that they gathered together the people who made up the church.
The church is an amazing organism that God is the author and designer of. It is a priveledge to be planting and pastoring this amazing church.

Praise the Lord for the new gathering place. I recently told our folks at Pathway that our sign should say Pathway Church meets here. I am looking forward to partnering again in 2009 or 2010 with some of our people at Pathway. We did not meet in anything other than homes until Constantine. Now I feel we have created so many trappings that hinder us from reaching people. I love you man!!!
