It wasn’t an especially magical moment. To casual passers-by it would have been a little odd, but nothing to gawk at considering the Emperor’s decree: a family holed-up in a barn, a newborn baby making cooing sounds, and perhaps some cows lowing and mooing nearby. A touch unusual perhaps, but only because there wasn’t any room left at the inn.
But perception is not reality. Though it wouldn’t have appeared to be breath-taking, indeed it was. As little fingers fumbled around clumsily, as tiny eyes squinted hard to stay open, as the micro tuft of hair on his head stood straight up in a calic, this baby boy was both young and eternal, both small and infinite, both weak and all-powerful, clumsy yet the maestro that conducted the galaxies of the universe, and this baby boy was both a sacrificial offering given as a ransom for all and the King of all. It couldn’t have possibly been a more amazing sight to behold.
The Eve of Christ is an evening of wonder, mystery, sacrifice, and grateful joy. Join us this Thursday evening, the Eve of Christ, at 6:00PM as we remember the arrival of our redemption in the birth of our Redeemer.
