Volunteering on Canada Day is a long-standing tradition for Bridge Church! Although we won’t be passing out water bottles this year, we will still be volunteering in a variety of capacities in Kamloops, and potentially in Logan Lake too. This will include both the evening before Canada Day, June 30, and Canada Day itself. We will be partnering with other community organizations. This is a fantastic way to connect with people, serve our community, and demonstrate the love of Christ to those outside the walls of our church. Talk to your Life Group leaders for more details about these opportunities, and let us know if you’ll be able to give a few hours of your time during this holiday!

The Ganton Life Group would like to invite you to join them on June 12 for their Car Care Clinic. This will be held on our back parking lot from 11-3 and include free car care advice, hot dogs, and bounce houses. Tell your friends! More volunteers are also needed. Speak to Clay or Carolyn for more information, or to volunteer today!
New Christian Guide
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve been thinking a lot about some basic essentials for the new Christ Follower to better understand the nature of their new found faith and loving trust in Christ. When a person makes the choice to follow Christ they encounter a world that is strangely new and wonderfully exciting. Sadly, this new found walk with God too often meets with frustration and confusion. The initial excitement of the decision leads to increased curiosity and a thirst for a deeper understanding of Doctrine, but this curiosity and thirst for a better understanding is usually frustrated by a lack of guidance and instruction on the part of Pastors and church leadership.
I don’t want to be one of those pastors that has a church full of eager people, but fails to give proper guidance in a timely manner. So consider the following my 1st Year Discipleship Guide for New Followers of Christ. I’ve chosen books that are easy to read and steer clear of technical jargon.
1. English Standard Version -Study Bible

2. Design for Discipleship Series by NavPress (Books 1 through 7)
3. A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World by Paul Miller
http://www.amazon.com/Praying-Life-Connecting-Distracting-World/dp/1600063004
4. Psalms (A Worship Compilation of Worship Songs based on the Psalms, excellent for accompanying a personal devotion time of prayer and scripture reading.)

5. What is a Healthy Church? By Mark Dever

6. Why Small Groups: Together Toward Maturity edited by C.J. Mahaney

7. Fifty Reasons Christ Came to Die by John Piper

These books are the seven that I’d absolutely recommend for the new believer and follower of Jesus Christ for their first year of being a Christian. The new Christian needs two things: a good Bible and a great church that is faithful to preach the Bible. For those of you who have found Christ and are currently searching for a church to call home, my prayers are with you!

Life Groups are an important part of life in Bridge Church as we value authentic relationships and time together in God’s Word. In Life Group, we continue to discuss the passage from Sunday morning, unpacking it as a group and seeking to apply it in our lives. Each Life Group is an open group with people from a variety of stages and walks of life who strive together to build genuine community. Here’s the details about our three current Life Groups:
Tuesdays at 7 PM, the Ganton Life Group meets in the home of Clay & Carolyn Ganton close to downtown Kamloops. Discussion is led by Clay.
Tuesdays at 7 PM, the Vandean Life Group also meets. This is held at the home of Tyson & Charlene Vandean in Logan Lake and discussion is led by Joshua.
Thursdays at 6:30 PM, the Betker Life Group meets in Aberdeen at Cheryl Betker’s home and discussion is led by Michael. In the Betker Life Group, Melissa & Kyla also lead a Children’s Life Group.
We invite you to participate in a Life Group this week! You’ll discover the timeless truths of Scripture and develop eternal relationships. Feel free to call the office for more information or directions to any Life Group!
